Anticoagulants

Anabolic steroids can potentiate the effects of anticoagulants. Stanoxyl is an anabolic steroid therefore, the PT (prothrombin time) should be checked when anabolic steroids and anticoagulants are administered at the same time, and the dose of the anticoagulants should be adjusted if necessary.

Insulin

Patients taking insulin may need a dose adjustment of the insulin if the use of anabolic steroids is started or concomitent anabolic steroid therapy is stopped. Anabolic steroids can lower blood glucose and thus require a reduction in insulin dose.
